Maico/MStar

1984 MStar 500 - After Maico went out of business, MStar was the name given to the Maico lineup, in the United States. 1986 was the last year for MStar, I believe. This is a fast, fast bike. It is hard to tell if the rear tire is spinning, or the clutch is slipping this thing is so fast. This bike is still competitive against today's modern bikes. That is saying a lot for a motorcycle that is over 30 years old, air cooled, with drum brakes. Many say that the 1981 Twin Shock Maico 490 may have been the best dirt bike ever built, and it was followed by the single shock design in 1982. There were hub and gear problems that contributed to the demise of Maico in 1983, but the MStars were well built, fast bikes. This bike has had Racetech Gold Valve Emulators and new fork springs installed, new front and rear wheel sets, new tires and the rear shock has had a new spring made.
Scroll down to see the pics of it now with the later model MX tank, white fenders, custom seat cover, reworked suspension, etc., as it has been refurbished for racing.
